At the very top of that list is an exciting new role within the Community Energy Design Team, Principal Design Engineer, to support the demands of the growing business and as such you will have the opportunity to bring forward your own ideas to the team. This role offers a great opportunity to develop key skills and experience for a successful career within Design Engineering, as well as an opportunity to build knowledge within the energy industry. Reporting to the Head of Design, you will lead and manage a small team of Design Engineers responsible for delivering end to end design deliverables to the Community Energy business for district heating schemes in the UK. You will be responsible for monitoring the design task delivery performance of the team against the project plans. This role will offer the hybrid working approach, where you will be free to work between the office, site and home as appropriate. Duties: Plan, manage and allocate the direct report resource to ensure delivery of design tasks on time, budget and to the required quality Act as Lead Designer on up to 5 projects to lead the technical and engineering development of schemes. This will typically cover RIBA Stage 2 & 3 deliverables with some support function to cover the management of Stage 4-6. This involves being the focal point of contact for key stakeholders including WIN, Delivery, Operations and external clients Ensure the design process for all of schemes is CDM 2015 compliant and complies with all internal policies and procedures for CDM implementation Responsible for technical and engineering activities including calculations, material choice, systems and drawings. This includes approval and authorisation of design work The development of the design and processes, specifications, and procedures to enhance the efficiency of the design team Provide technical guidance and advice to the WIN, Delivery, Operations teams, and Clients Aid the Head of Design with the implementation of the Design strategy Ensuring the projects are designed to the Community Energy s (CE) quality and design standards and meeting all relevant legislative requirements Criteria: Professionally qualified - Chartered Engineer preferred. Knowledge of DH (District Heating) network design and operations Thorough knowledge of DH regulations and standards Thorough knowledge of Building services design Experience of working with pressure system standards and control (PED) Experience of Construction Design and Management Regulations, auditing, and Design Risk assessment Demonstrable experience in engineering project management and budgetary responsibility Experience in people management of a team of engineering and technical professionals and driving performance Knowledge of BIM level 2 working Working knowledge of REVIT MEP, AUTOCAD and Energy pro desirable Applications are invited from experience Building Services Design Engineers with a keen interest in decarbonisation, highly motivated to make a difference and take on challenging projects. Whilst the role could be technically done from anywhere due to remote working , there are regional offices across the country which would make those living across the East & West Midlands, South West and London a particularly good fit
