Job Purpose Plan, organise and effectively utilise resources (i.e., materials, machines, and people) to manufacture processed glass products efficiently and effectively. Aim to ensure that all company standards and objectives are achieved e.g., quality, productivity and health and safety. 2. Dimensions. Planning and directing the activity of up to 30 operatives through production Annual turnover up to £20m 3. Principle Accountabilities Direct and support team of operatives and team leader to achieve all KPI within the business. Manage specific areas5. Evaluate data provided by others relating to product quality and quality management systems in order to support and direct the production management teams in minimising all elements of internal and external wastage. Ensure SIC measures are in place and are followed and actioned when not achieving hourly outputs Ensure that the production operatives maintain internal testing and recording requirements for BSI and other regulatory bodies Ensure we treat every customer as a QC customer and work to all set standards re QL22 Ensure housekeeping and machines are kept to the highest standards Analyse processes and related productivity reports provided by others e.g., internal benchmarking and down time analysis paperwork is in order to identify potential areas for improvement. Working with the health and safety team to ensure that a clean and safe working environment is maintained, safe work practises (esp. wearing of PPE) are maintained and equipment is operated correctly and safely Ensure daily hazard checks are completed and actioned where possible Participate with Accident investigation as and when required Conduct regular interviews with the TL team to ensure effective utilisation of staff, encourage team working and sharing of best practise across all production units Follow maintenance management systems and monitor performance e.g., plant breakdown frequency ensuring all scanning is done to review with maintenance and ensure all downtime is reported using relevant systems RE PC99 4. Objectives SMART Assist the Production Management Team in achieving goals by focusing on production related costs and targets Reduce service failure to no more than 1% External waste to customers no greater than 0.7% Internal waste to be reduced in line with targets ESG 2.0% Achieving specific productivity targets across all processes and production units see separate targets document re- Furnace Output laminate Output- Edging output & Drilling Output Aim to minimise all accidents and zero LTA s Ensure all areas are clean and organised and the operators are ensuring their areas are cleaned down at the end of a shift. 5. Decision making authority and controls Makes own decisions within agreed expenditure limits to achieve business objectives. However, Health and safety of employees remains a prime business objective and therefore will never be compromised Has authority to take disciplinary action up to final written warning 6. Key Skills and Personal Factors Able to motivate, delegate and lead their team in the achievement of business objectives Experience in planning and organising their own time and that of their teams, able to adapt to changing circumstances Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with internal and external customers and suppliers What you ll get from us.
